If you have ever suffered from acne, you must have heard some people asking you to apply an ice cube on acne to get relief. Now the question is, does it work and if yes, how much? Ice is considered as the secret fighter of a pimple, and it can work wonderfully if you have enough patience to apply it over and over again.

Why Ice works on Acne:

Acne or a pimple is nothing but a bacterial infection or inflammation which occurs in the skin pore. Ice is known to diminish the inflammation in most parts of the body, and it works on the pimple, in the same way. Ice works in four possible manners on the acne.

  1. The first thing it does is to reduce the redness caused by a pimple. Your pimples are going to look better, and this is an instant result. If you are planning to go out, you can apply the ice on it and go out with a better-looking face.
  2. Ice reduces the pain that is caused by a pimple, and you will feel better.
  3. The next thing that ice does is to reduce the size of a pimple. When you ice directly for a few minutes, it takes out the swelling and reduces its size.
  4. Healing of a pimple becomes faster when you apply ice on the same. The size, redness, and swelling decrease with each application and it become easy to treat a smaller pimple than a bigger one.

Ice is considered to be one of the best home remedies when it comes to removing pimples, but the question is how to apply ice and for how many days. The first thing to remember is that you don’t need to use ice directly on your skin.

You can wrap it in a piece of cloth and hold against your skin in such a way that it touches the skin. You can do the same for 20 to 30 seconds and wipe out the water if any. Leave the skin to rest for 1 to 2 minutes and apply the ice treatment once again. Do this, as many times as possible throughout the day, and you will see the difference.

Ice may not be able to cure all sorts of acne of the root, but if you know that some pimples are under the skin, you can ice directly to stop them from showing up. Ice cube on acne is effective when you repeat the treatment for some time.
